THE BIBLE IN A NEW LIGHT

From the April 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

IF one has ever read by candlelight, he is keenly aware of the greater illumination, the constancy, and the power of more advanced systems of lighting, and he is grateful for them!

Studying the Bible in a Christianly scientific light proves a daily adventure of discovery for the student of Christian Science. Like a powerful searchlight, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy reveals to him the purely spiritual, hence original and scientific, meanings of Bible texts. The spiritual ideas contained in these two books, which constitute the student's ordained and eternal Pastor, shepherd him, nourish and lead him to ever-fresh unfoldments of infinite Truth, God, eternal and ever-present perfection.

Mrs. Eddy writes in "Retrospection and Introspection" (p. 25): "The Bible was my textbook. It answered my questions as to how I was healed; but the Scriptures had to me a new meaning, a new tongue. Their spiritual signification appeared; and I apprehended for the first time, in their spiritual meaning, Jesus' teaching and demonstration, and the Principle and rule of spiritual Science and metaphysical healing, —in a word, Christian Science."
