I have had many healings in Christian Science, but the ones I recall most vividly are those which came to me when I first began studying its teachings. Each experience taught new lessons. I learned obedience, consecration, the value of studying daily the Lesson-Sermons, found in the Quarterly, and the importance of always attending church services and meetings.
Christian Science was presented to me by a fellow employee while I was working in an animal shelter. One morning I opened a large cardboard box containing a cat, intending to put the cat in a cage. However, the cat jumped at me and severely bit my hand, tearing the flesh deeply. The appearance of the wound and the pain overcame me, and I immediately called to my friend. She quieted the fear and called a practitioner.
When it was learned that I was not going to have medical treatment, much concern was voiced by the other employees. Blood poisoning was predicted, and it was also said that there would be no sensation in my first finger and that I would never be able to bend it again.
