"Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?" (Ps. 139:7.) The omnipresence of God implied by these words has been evidenced to me many times in my life.
Although I was brought up in Christian Science, attending Sunday School and church services from an early age, my understanding of Science was in those days somewhat fragmentary and theoretical. However, I had faith in the truth, as far as I understood it, and experienced many healings and proofs of God's care. Some of these were accomplished by my own unaided prayers and some with the help of practitioners. In childhood I experienced healings of impetigo, a severe nasal hemorrhage, a whitlow on the thumb, and several so-called children's complaints. These were all brought about through spiritual means alone.
During the Second World War, I was on active service in the Royal Air Force. Many trials and problems were encountered and turned into proofs of God's loving care and protection. Three times I escaped capture, and on several occasions I was shielded from extreme danger by my prompt affirmation of the truths of Christian Science.
