In my grammar school days I suffered from fainting spells, the cause of which the doctors could not alleviate or cure. My parents had heard of Christian Science and decided to turn to it for help in this need. I was taken to a practitioner who lived not far from my home. I do not remember how many treatments I had, but it was not long before all symptoms of the disease were eliminated.
From then on, I was sent to a Christian Science Sunday School, and after some time my parents attended the church services. Since then, I have been blessed in many ways through the study and application of Science.
When in my teens, I visited friends in the northern woods of Maine. I became quite ill one night. Knowing that the family I was visiting were not at all interested in Christian Science, I didn't want to call them. So I turned my thought to God, and these words from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to me (p. 495): "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought."
