Testimonies of Healing

I did not begin the study of Christian Science...

From the March 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I did not begin the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but in an attempt to find God. I had investigated several other religions, but each time had come away unsatisfied. Now I found that Christian Science explained God with such clarity that for the first time I could begin to grasp and understand Him. The healing power of Christian Science was explained to me at a later date by a very dedicated practitioner, who stressed the fact that it was a practical religion for everyday use to meet every need, not just a "Sunday" religion.

In those days I wore strong glasses from the time I awoke until the time I retired because I could not see without them. I had been told that my eyes would gradually grow worse and that I would require even stronger glasses from time to time. I decided that if Christian Science was a practical religion, I could use it, and healing would result. I began to study and work with the definition of "eyes" found on page 586 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The definition begins, "Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental."

About a year later I found that I could see normally without my glasses. For about thirty years I had no need for them. I passed physical examinations at the university and in the Air Force, and even now easily pass the State driver's license test without their aid. At present, I require glasses for reading purposes only.
