Today the troubled world still echoes the longing cry of Job, "Oh that I knew where I might find him!" (23:3.) Still mortal man gropes blindly, seeking God in the unreal shadow of materiality instead of in the radiant light of spiritual reality. Yet the outlook is not dim, for transcendent Christian Science is destined to bring mankind into an understanding of God's perfection and ever-presence. To the struggling, lonely heart, Science whispers triumphantly, "God is here."
To mortal view, however, matter appears to be everywhere. Mortal eyes look out on a creation full of matter, and there seems to be very little place for the presence of God, who is Spirit, as Christ Jesus taught. But to spiritual sense God is here; God and His perfect spiritual creation are all that are here, forever.
Mrs. Eddy, the loved Leader of the Christian Science movement, writes in Science and Health (p. 471): "God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence. Hence the spirituality of the universe is the only fact of creation." The material universe, with its pain and evil, is an unreal dreamlike concept of the one flawless creation that is actually present.
