Love, the Remedy for Fear

From the November 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

John tells us, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment." I John 4:18; How often the torment of fear seeks to press itself upon human thought, and how much we all wish to be rid of this torment!

What is our remedy for fear? How do we free ourselves? Christian Science shows us that we overcome fear by turning to and relying on perfect Love, God. The more we rely on Love, the more we experience its protecting, healing power. And the stronger becomes our confidence in God, our loving Father-Mother.

If we are to be aware of the protecting, healing power of divine Love in our human experience, we must be loving. Being loving is an expression of our love of God, of our fellowman, and of everything good. Love expressed makes us conscious of man's inseparable oneness with divine Love as its reflection, and of everyone's safety within Love's care. Herein lies our remedy for fear.
