In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy warns: "There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking: 'Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?'" Science and Health, p. 135; She then asks, "What cannot God do?"
Because of the implication of this query that there is nothing He cannot do, it must have brought solace to thousands who prior to their investigation of Christian Science were not willing to admit that there cannot be a single material extremity from which deliverance cannot be found through reliance on divine Life and Love. If this were not so, God's power would be finite instead of infinite, and we should have no justification for calling Him "the Almighty."
If we truly believe that our Father-Mother God is unlimited in power, intelligence, and love, we cannot doubt His unfailing ability to save us from any distressing situation in which we may find our-selves and to free us from what may appear to be severest physical suffering. If deliverance seems not forthcoming, divine Love cannot be blamed. Jesus' disciples once failed to heal a boy who was brought to them. When they asked their Master the reason for their failure, he replied, "Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."Matt. 17:20;
