Seeking Rightly

From the November 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Everyone experiences at some time a particularly pressing or important need and is faced with the task of seeking its fulfillment. If the answer is sought through the usual material channels, the chance of a satisfactory solution to the problem may seem remote or impossible. But Christian Science offers a sure solution, whatever one's human requirements may be. Mrs. Eddy assures us in Science and Health, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Science and Health, p. 494; This truth can be practically demonstrated in the life of any sincere seeker for Truth.

It will be found helpful to ask oneself, "What am I looking for?" Centuries ago, Christ Jesus told his followers, when referring to their everyday needs, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt. 6:33; Here, then, lies the recipe for finding what we need: the kingdom of heaven unfolds an understanding of God and of man in God's likeness. If we seek to know the nature of God as Love, Truth, and Life and then to express the nature of man as God's likeness including all the qualities of God, we shall find His loving provision for man intact in every respect.

If we do this, we shall be opening the door for divine Love's bounty to flow into our experience. And we may be sure that God's provision always appears in just the form of good that is needed. It provides for whatever lack may seem to be present. The answer may not be according to human planning or outlining of what is required; but it will always be exactly what is right, according to the wisdom of God, divine Mind, for He always knows, far better than we could, precisely what we need.
