I suffered from paralysis and deformity all my life until a few years ago. I was told that the day following my birth the entire right side of my body became paralyzed. As a result I carried my right arm in an unnatural position and had almost no use of it or the hand. My right leg and foot were misshapen, and I walked on the toes of the foot. My elementary schooling was not completed because I was told that I could not learn.
At the age of fifteen years I was enrolled by my parents in a Christian Science Sunday School. My physical condition remained almost unchanged through the years, but I gained a conviction that my salvation lay in Christian Science.
After my parents passed on, for a period of over twelve years I was unable to attend a Christian Science church service, but whenever possible I would read some of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Then through a series of circumstances I was in a position to resume attendance at a Christian Science church. I began to study very earnestly the Christian Science Quarterly Lesson-Sermons and to read the periodicals.
