Several years after the birth of our first child she began to suffer from rather frequent attacks of tonsillitis. I had an apathetic attitude toward Christian Science at this particular time and was not applying the truth to the situation very effectively. I soon realized that more specific action was being demanded of me.
I am grateful to say that I responded to this demand with a deep desire to feel the healing touch of the Christ. I had never called for the support of a practitioner before, but I went to the phone now and placed a call to one, who proved to be so firmly established in the truth herself that she was able to impart it to me in such a clear and practical way that my steps Spirit-ward never seriously wavered.
As I recall this first phone call, she talked to me at great length, vehemently denying error and proclaiming the perfection of God's child. She emphasized how impossible it would be for God's child to be sick. As we concluded our conversation, the practitioner said, "Now, I want you to expect results, and remember that this healing is not for this time only, but forever." Perfect God, perfect child, was the message that was ringing in my ears as I left the phone.
