Demonstrating Our Divine Possibilities

From the February 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some years ago I knew an attorney who had an extensive law library. One day I queried, "Why do you need this huge law library?"

He replied: "In the work I'm doing for this office and other law firms, I need to know many legal opinions and decisions. I don't burden myself trying to remember them, but locate them in my library when I need them."

Just as the lawyer turned to his library for necessary legal information, a Christian Scientist turns to his textbooks, the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to locate ideas that he needs. But he does so with the understanding that man in the image of God reflects omniscience. He includes every right idea and the power to express it. As in the case of ideas, we do not create our abilities and possibilities. They exist. Our knowledge of Christian Science enables us to awaken to them and to utilize them humanly.
