The Saving Power of Spiritual Thoughts

From the February 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The teachings of Christian Science are revolutionizing and spiritualizing the thought of many people throughout the world. These teachings are bringing to human consciousness the recognition of the mental nature of everything of which we take cognizance—the spiritually mental nature of all that expresses God, good, and the erroneously mental nature of all that claims to be an opposite of God and of His law of infinite good. Christian Science declares that only God, Spirit, and His spiritual manifestation are absolutely true and provable.

It was our great Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science, the Science that explains true being and true law. It was she who roused human consciousness out of its material, apathetic lethargy into a more alert, more active, and more spiritual searching for Truth. For the immeasurable benefits this has brought to mankind, many people turn with profound appreciation, respect, and love to this great and good woman and to her teachings.

It is awakening spirituality that has throughout the ages lifted mankind to their present level of progress. It is continuing spiritual awakening that is impelling men to continuing forward effort and achievement. Spiritual thoughts lead to a more comprehensive and scientific premise from which to proceed. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" our Leader writes, "Inspired thought relinquishes a material, sensual, and mortal theory of the universe, and adopts the spiritual and immortal."
