I am particularly grateful for a healing one of our daughters received nearly four years ago when she was struck by a car and thrown across the road when crossing a busy thoroughfare. My wife and I immediately took her home, made her comfortable in bed, and then both individually commenced prayerful metaphysical work.
The experience taught me a very useful lesson. It gave me proof that our actions, when motivated by love, are always corrected if through misguided sense we tend to take the wrong direction. Our daughter was under age, and the legal requirement in regard to children and medical aid had not been fully considered. Even when the Christian Science practitioner who subsequently was asked to give the child treatment drew attention to this point, pride would have kept me from calling in a doctor, since I intended to rely on Science for the healing. Obviously such pride was not conducive to a correct solution of the problem.
Shortly after my conversation with the practitioner, the police rang to inquire after our daughter. On being advised that we were Christian Scientists and wished to rely on Science, the officer remarked that the driver of the car involved was very much concerned and wished to know the extent of the girl's injuries. It then became clear to me that a doctor should be called.
