Men and women today are swiftly coming to realize that the physical universe is much greater and grander than they have generally supposed. Astronomy is rolling back the curtains of the heavens. The average television viewer is becoming familiar with little known areas of the earth's surface and even with other planets. Enterprising explorers are visiting and photographing large areas of the ocean floor.
Similarly, we are breaching the boundaries that centuries of ignorance have imposed upon human understanding of the spiritual universe. And we are achieving a higher concept of the real man's nature and capabilities. More and more we are coming to realize that, as Mrs. Eddy has expressed it in Science and Health, "The depth, breadth, height, might, majesty, and glory of infinite Love fill all space."Science and Health, p. 520;
Christ Jesus clearly recognized progressive development in human thinking. He illustrated it in graphic terms to his followers. Students of the Bible will recall that the Master at the beginning of his Galilean healing ministry found a little group of fishermen, who were to become disciples, washing their nets at the shore of the beautiful lake of Gennesaret. He enlisted the aid of Simon, later known as Peter, by requesting the use of his boat. Thrust out somewhat from the land, the vessel served as a platform. From it Jesus could address the throng of people that were pressing close upon him to hear his words of Truth.
