Being "a wrapper snapper"

There was a time when it was not uncommon for my wife and me to carry week-old copies of The Christian Science Monitor to church for use in distribution work. However, in nearly every case the wrapper placed on the paper for the original mailing was still firmly intact!

This was before each of us became what we laughingly called, "a wrapper snapper." We determined that although opening every Monitor that came in was perhaps a feeble beginning, it was nevertheless an imperative first step if we were to become more than just Monitor subscribers.

The transformation from Monitor subscriber to Monitor subscriber and reader results from the determination to help fulfill Mrs. Eddy's words regarding the Monitor:"My desire is that every Christian Scientist, and as many others as possible, subscribe for and read our daily newspaper."The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 352, 353;
