Setting Aside Limitation

From the October 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mankind are striving through endless channels of thought and action to set aside limitations. They are urging themselves on toward ever higher goals—goals that mean progress and betterment for the human race. Human thought is eager to comprehend, to expand, to achieve.

For the past century Christian Science has been aiding in this endeavor those who would learn its lessons. It has been lifting human thought out of the narrow grooves of matter dullness and matter limitations into a constantly widening understanding of man and the universe as spiritually mental—as free from all limitations. This Science is teaching us to change our basis of thought and action from the material to the spiritual. It is telling us to turn to the one divine Mind for inspiration, for wider vision, for spiritual ideas, and to let these ideas unfold and broaden in our consciousness.

We learn in Christian Science that what appear to be the limitations of personal handicaps or adverse circumstances are not really inherent in these outward conditions but are limitations of thought. We also learn that through gaining a spiritually scientific understanding of God and man we can free human thought from its self-imposed limitations.
