In the Bible we read (I Pet. 4: 12, 13): "Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." My understanding of this and other Scriptural truths was largely superficial.
As a result of an experience, which I wish to relate, I have begun to realize in a small measure the true meaning of the Scriptural lines just quoted. My expression of gratitude is long overdue.
One evening early in March, 1967, I was going upstairs while carrying a large carton containing a plate glass mirror. Just as I reached the second step from the top, I lost my balance. The mirror and I landed on the hard floor twelve steps below.
