The sincere student of Christian Science includes the world in his daily metaphysical work. He seeks to pray effectively to meet the specific needs of mankind—to see his fellowmen embraced within the powerful, intelligent love that divine Love alone provides.
How can he approach this problem effectively—this picture of a world fractured by ideological and national differences— without being overwhelmed by the magnitude of the material picture, the sheer plurality of problems?
Mortal mind classifies its expression, evil or matter, as big or small, compound or simple, plural or singular. Remembering this, one will not be mesmerized into trying to adjust the confused picture to a good human pattern any more than he would try, in Science, to heal sickness by attempting to change a sick mortal into a well mortal. Nor will he be overcome by its threats and feel impotent to handle it. He can vigorously deny it, knowing, as did Christ Jesus, "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work." John 5:17; He can claim that his power to heal is God-derived.
