More than a half century ago I began the study and application of Christian Science, and over the years I have gratefully experienced many instances of healing through scientific metaphysical prayer.
Early in my study of Christian Science I was instantaneously healed of a chronic condition of sties around my eyes, a condition which had harassed me throughout a period of two years. This occurred when I was sewing for the soloist of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in exchange for my voice lessons. I mentioned to her that I was suffering from more of those constantly recurring sties. She immediately and forcefully declared the truth of God and of man in the image and likeness of God; and when she came to that part of "the scientific statement of being" which says (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468), "Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error," she vehemently exclaimed, "Error is a lie, and you cannot consent to a lie!"
Then while she was yet speaking, I felt close to God, and all the pain vanished immediately. Before I left her home that day, the sties were entirely gone. The healing was instantaneous and complete, and there has never been a recurrence of this trouble. I am still grateful for that dear woman's prayerful realization of God's love which healed me.
