Christian Science has enabled me to meet the many problems of a successful business career. At one point I was not satisfied with my progress in the company I was with, although I was at the head of my department. Every time I asked for a transfer to what a title insurance and trust company calls the plant, I was told that I couldn't be spared, that I was needed where I was, and that there was no one to take my place.
Finally I quit struggling and tried to listen more closely for God's direction and to put into practice right where I was all that I had learned and was learning through the study of Christian Science. Soon after this change in my thinking I was called to the plant manager's office on a Friday afternoon and told that I was to report to his department the following Monday morning.
I was transferred from work in a typing pool to what was considered to be men's work making and examining chains of title to land ownership. Many years of interesting work followed, and at one time I was in charge of assigning the work to other chainmen. With a shift in the management of this department I was told without any previous notice that the assigning of work had been given to one of the men. This called upon me to apply Christian Science to overcome shock and resentment and to try more earnestly to express love and cooperation.
