After many years of spiritual growth and blessed experience that have come to me through the study of Christian Science I feel that I have reached a point where I must share my heartfelt gratitude with those who read our periodicals.
Although my family were not Christian Scientists, my parents were friendly toward it and permitted me to attend Sunday School in a nearby Church of Christ, Scientist, for about a year and a half. The dedicated teaching in this Sunday School stood me in good stead in later years and was my protection when I was involved in a serious auto accident at about age sixteen.
I had suffered from hay fever from the time I was a small child. This fact, however, did not keep me from serving in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. During my tour of duty contact with a dedicated Christian Science Wartime Minister, as our Ministers were then called, led me to the serious study of Christian Science.
