"I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten" (Joel 2:25). This has been a promise and a beacon since my first healing through the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner.
In June, 1958, I suddenly found myself unable to speak intelligibly; also the use of my right arm and leg seemed to be curtailed. I sought the advice of the family physician when I became ill. At his recommendation I entered a hospital in another city and was placed under the care of a specialist.
My friend and business partner, with whom I was engaged in operating a poultry and egg ranch, had taken up the study of Christian Science a few years earlier. Before leaving to drive to the hospital my friend called a Christian Science practitioner whom we had met through mutual friends. After hearing of my difficulties and my decision to seek medical help, the practitioner kindly stated that she could not work for me but would be happy to take up prayerful work for my friend. At this time we had several hundred laying hens and a retail egg route, which kept us both busy. Therefore it seemed an impossibility for one person to do all the work.
