The healing work: getting started

From the January 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Every Christian Scientist is learning how to give himself or another an effective Christian Science treatment, and many right now are looking forward to the time when they can devote themselves more fully to this healing ministry as public practitioners.

"How does one go about becoming a practitioner?" people often want to know. This same question was asked by a man taking Christian Science class instruction, and the teacher answered, "The only way to learn how to practice is to practice."

So, shortly after class, this man decided to set aside an hour a day to practice Christian Science healing. "I took four specific world problems and considered them to be my patients," he recounts. "Each treatment I gave them helped me to give a better treatment, and in a few months I found I had learned a great deal about giving treatments."
