Two years ago I was asked to accompany two friends on a conducted tour to the Hawaiian Islands. One morning we walked along the shore at Maui. I was gathering coral with my back to the waves, and I did not realize how deeply my feet and legs had sunk into the wet sand. Along came a wave and threw me off balance, then another, and a third knocked me down. My friends called me to come on the dry sand, since another wave was approaching. Then I discovered that I was unable to stand on one leg. I managed to reach the dry sand by sliding and pushing with one leg. My companions recommended that I call for assistance from our tour guide. He quickly responded.
I was helped into a wheelchair and instructions were given that I be taken to the clinic. I asked to be taken to my room, because I wished to call a Christian Science practitioner. I reached a practitioner and work was begun immediately.
Before I left for home, the tour guide was very desirous of my having an X ray, but I refused, and the two friends with me supported my stand for spiritual healing. After I signed a release for the tour company, the guide carried out my wishes and made reservations for my return to the mainland. Although I had to make the trip with the assistance of a wheelchair and had to take a bus and change planes three times, the trip was most harmonious. I truly felt God's care all around. During the layover in Honolulu I was able to introduce Christian Science to three individuals.
