The Monitor staffers you heard today, along with a string of other writers and editors both in Boston and around the world, make up a staff with a remarkable sense of integrity, perception, and commitment to the Monitor ideals established by Mrs. Eddy. In order to serve The Mother Church, many of them have left jobs which paid much more money than they earn now. Many have rejected much more lucrative offers in order to remain in the service of The Mother Church.
Besides their Monitor work, many of them are active in branch church work, or in the part-time practice of Christian Science. It's not at all unusual, for example, for one or another of our overseas correspondents to return from a difficult, sometimes even hazardous, assignment to take up his role as Reader, or Sunday School teacher, in his branch church.
Beyond this, the Monitor is proud to have produced a string of graduates who have gone on to be full-time practitioners of Christian Science, or lecturers, or teachers. In the case of my immediate predecessor as Editor of the Monitor, the Monitor has even produced a Director of The Mother Church!
