I was a dropout from Christian Science for some ten years. I am deeply grateful that divine Love not only directed me to return but also guided and provided for me during the period of my regeneration and re-identification with the Cause.
I had been brought up in a staunch Presbyterian family, and all of us were taught to attend Sunday School and church regularly. My father, who was a country doctor, passed on when I was very young. Soon afterward my mother took up the study of Christian Science. I have since learned to be very grateful for her courageous step away from the medical. My older sister and I resisted for two or three years, but later I began attending the Christian Science Sunday School and joined The Mother Church and a branch church.
One morning I awoke with a fever and all of the symptoms of influenza. I went to the home of my Sunday School teacher and was completely healed in two hours through her prayerful work. Christian Science was a staunch guide for me during World War I, and I was protected both physically and morally.
