Those who have accepted the teachings of Christian Science and are conscientiously putting them into practice have within them a growing religious faith that God is, as the Bible says, "a strong hold in the day of trouble."Nah. 1:7; They are convinced that the safety of mankind lies only in trusting Him to supply their every need: to comfort, guard, and guide them, to heal them, to protect them from danger, and to keep them well and happy forever. There is no other way.
These people who are known to the world as Christian Scientists have at some precious moments in their lives become conscious that God, infinite good, is the all-pervading presence and power—that, indeed, "there is none else."Isa. 45:5; In their search for Truth they have been led to discern the spiritual fact that man is God's idea, and that He maintains each individual identity in His perfect image, pure, vital, healthy, the reflection of the divine nature. They have caught glimpses of the scientific explanation that the universe is governed by the law of good, and that this law permits no deviation from harmony in any aspect of true being.
For many people these glimpses of spiritual truth have usually been little more than for a moment, but often they have been so vivid and vital that not only have they brought light to individual human consciousness, but they have had undeniable healing effects upon these people's lives and bodies. Many can tell of quick healing of disease after receiving this gift of divine grace, of the overcoming of home and business problems, and of the establishment of peace and happiness. It is no wonder, then, that thereafter they have been convinced that they must keep faith with this vision of spotless being. In their hearts they know they must dedicate themselves to the aim of gaining ever clearer views of immortal Life and increasing their consciousness of spiritual Truth. And they are certain that in doing so they are taking no risks but are placing themselves under the sure protection of triumphant, divine law.
