My first contact with Christian Science came when I was seventeen. I found Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy on a bookshelf. I understood very little but was enthralled, and took it to school to read in free periods. I was preparing to take the entrance examination to Oxford University, and this reading of the textbook of Christian Science seemed to bring my studies into focus and make sense of them. The result was that on the results of this examination I was given a scholarship to the college of my first choice.
Attendance at the Christian Science college organization meetings during the years I was at college was most helpful, and with prayerful support from a Christian Science practitioner I was able to face the final examinations calmly. I glimpsed that Mind was in control of all true consciousness, supplying all wisdom and intelligence. On the way to the oral examination, which concluded the finals, I was led to drop in at a bookseller's shop and look up a certain part of the syllabus. An hour later I was being questioned on just that matter.
I was very grateful for this help with my studies, and later for guidance in finding a place in the commercial world that took me on acceptable terms seven thousand miles away to the Argentine. While there, I experienced the most impressive physical healing I have had.
