"The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword" (Heb. 4:12). This certainly proved true in my experience.
I had long suffered from bronchial asthma, allergies, sinus infection, nervous exhaustion, and a sense of imbalance. Within a year I had been hospitalized three times because of bronchial pneumonia, and was being examined for tuberculosis. In the middle of the examination God turned me wholeheartedly to Him for help. I felt His presence as an irresistible benevolent power taking possession of me. I threw away six different medicines the doctor had said I would need for the remainder of my life. Then I called a Christian Science practitioner in a nearby city. The prayerful treatment and the conversation we had encouraged me to get out of bed, go to the Christian Science Reading Room, secure a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and a Christian Science Quarterly containing the weekly Bible Lesson, study the lesson, and attend church Sunday. The Bible was of course an essential part of the lesson, but I had always owned a Bible. I had neglected the study of this Lesson-Sermon for twelve years.
A complete healing of every one of these physical disorders took place within two or three days after I attended church. There has never been a return of any phase of the illness. My radical stand for Truth and my implicit obedience, coupled with the great love expressed by the practitioner, allowed the power of God to operate. The next week when I met friends on the street, they were amazed, for they hardly recognized me. Several said that I looked like a different person, and one declared that I looked twenty-five years younger.
