Several times in my life I have had to know that God was my Life, my only Life, as we read in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (pp. 471, 472): "This Science teaches man that God is the only Life, and that this Life is Truth and Love." I have had to know this Truth and Love, God, with my whole heart and soul and mind, as the Bible teaches us.
One such deep experience was when I was flying from Katmandu, Nepal, to Delhi, India, in a crowded Indian plane, sitting between two Indian men who had, for their luggage, innumerable large baskets piled in a local fashion under, around, and on top of us. There was barely room for my feet on the floor, or for me between them all!
Suddenly a most excruciating pain struck the top of one of my ankles. Crowded in, as I was, in the midst of tropical heat, humid bodies, too numerous bulging baskets, all I could do was pray. A second strike, and more prayer! I had no idea what had happened, but I knew I must know that God was my Life, my All, as we are taught to pray in Christian Science.
