Already Done

From the September 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Is there anyone who, at some time or other, has not wished tomorrow were already past? An upcoming examination we dreaded or a business conference or trip not relished may have prompted the thought.

Under trying circumstances, what comfort may be gained from the Biblical assurance: "It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end"! Rev. 21:6; Here, the Christ, the Word, or manifestation, of God is speaking of the spiritual universe created by Spirit, God. In this universe—the only one there is—all that really exists is already complete and perfect.

Bringing the completeness of the spiritual universe into our daily life requires us to steadfastly acknowledge what Spirit is and accept its control wholeheartedly. Spirit is not something separate and apart from our true selfhood; our identity is actually the very expression of Spirit.
