After receiving the benefits of Christian Science for nearly fifty years, I feel it is about time I expressed my gratitude in our periodicals.
I first heard of Christian Science in my freshman year in college when I lived in the home of a Christian Scientist. While there, I witnessed the healing of her three-year-old grandson, who drank a bottle of caustic solution marked "Poison." With Christian Science treatment he was free after a few hours and appeared as radiant as he always had been. This healing made a deep impression on me, and when any questioning or condemnatory remarks were made about Christian Science, as they often were in those days, I always said, "I know nothing about Christian Science except what it can do," and then I often related the above healing.
My college days were busy and happy ones. Later, while teaching, and then being happily married, I never felt I had any particular need for studying Christian Science. However, a few years after I married, the brokerage house my husband was associated with went into receivership.
