The Christian Science textbook is one book, but as its title, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, implies, it has two parts. Both sections of this one volume are vitally important. They merit equal attention, and together with the Bible they provide a message of deep significance and far-reaching importance for humanity, opening people's thought to recognize their God-given, but often unclaimed, rights.
In the section of her book that Mrs. Eddy designates as Key to the Scriptures, she comments specifically only on four chapters of Genesis and three of the Apocalypse. But the exegesis she gives of these crucial passages of the Bible, and the spiritual interpretation she also provides, in the Glossary, of more than one hundred words that are vital to the unfoldment of the divine message of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, are enough to yield startling views of creation as it actually is and as it falsely seems to be.
With exquisite simplicity the true nature of man and woman as perfect, spiritual beings, made in God's likeness, is unfolded. "God fashions all things, after His own likeness," writes Mrs. Eddy. And, "Man and woman as coexistent and eternal with God forever reflect, in glorified quality, the infinite Father-Mother God." Science and Health, p. 516 And later: "Love giveth to the least spiritual idea might, immortality, and goodness, which shine through all as the blossom shines through the bud. All the varied expressions of God reflect health, holiness, immortality —infinite Life, Truth, and Love."ibid., p. 518
