The disquietude of this period should rouse Christian Scientists everywhere to a deeper realization and acceptance of their part in meeting the world's needs. The various crises as they burst upon the peoples of the earth need to be dealt with in metaphysical dimension by those who have the Christianly scientific understanding to do so. The world must have this help so that the human solutions may appear and so that these may be based on spiritual truth, which provides the only real solution to any problem.
At this time students of Christian Science are being required to look beyond personal lacks and anxieties. Their need is to reach more expansively into the very depths of Spirit's infinite resources and to fulfill their office as metaphysicians for the world. Isn't this period, which appears for many to be a time of disaster, suffering what is essentially a spiritual crisis? The evident disorder is but a symptom of the universal need for a higher concept of morality and spirituality. It points to the urgency of the world's advancement in Truth.
Mrs. Eddy, speaking of national crises, writes: "It is then that supreme devotion to Principle has especially been called for and manifested. It is then that we learn a little more of the nothingness of evil, and more of the divine energies of good, and strive valiantly for the liberty of the sons of God." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 176 No one is better equipped to exemplify consecration to Principle and demonstrate the substance of good than the advancing student of Christian Science. No one is more able to read the case correctly—to incisively interpret it—and furnish the counter facts that will heal it on a Christianly scientific basis. The challenges of the times must surely inspire us to express the spiritual devotion through which solutions and healing will appear.
