New Director of The Mother Church

From the March 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science Board of Directors announces the resignation of Arthur P. Wuth, C. S.B., and the election of Charles Louis Reilly, C.S.B., to succeed him as a Director of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The change became effective January 1, 1975.

After many years of faithful service on this Board Mr. Wuth is returning to his first love, the full-time practice and teaching of Christian Science in his original field, Denver, Colorado. He has served The Mother Church in various important capacities: as Committee on Publication for Colorado, as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, as First Reader of The Mother Church, as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society, and as a Director of The Mother Church. During his time on this Board, and in all of his many other offices, Arthur Wuth has rendered the most dedicated, selfless, and effective service.

Mr. Reilly brings broad experience and outstanding qualifications to his new position as Director. His interest in Christian Science dates back to his boyhood, when through his introduction to Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy he was healed of semi-invalidism. A few years after joining a branch church and The Mother Church he received Primary class instruction. His earlier career as a concert pianist yielded increasingly to his healing work in Christian Science and he became listed in The Christian Science Journal as a public practitioner. Several years later he was appointed Committee on Publication for Southern California, serving for eight years. During this period he became an authorized teacher of Christian Science. In 1960 he was appointed to The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, continuing in that work until coming to headquarters in 1965. His experience in branch church positions includes that of First Reader and chairman of the executive board.
