Each day I look forward to study of the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly. One of the lessons is entitled "God the Preserver of Man."
As I was studying this particular lesson one day, I stopped to ask myself just how God had preserved me over the many years that I have been a Christian Scientist. I sat for some time recalling many instances of God's protecting care, and how He had preserved me from bodily harm and saved me from what are sometimes considered fatal experiences.
I wish to tell of some instances where the power of God alone brought me through imminent dangers. The first one took place when I was living on the Bay of Naples in Italy. I had been sailing on the Mediterranean, and as my custom was when I reached a certain place, I jumped off the sailboat into the sea to swim to the villa where I lived, which was built on a rock in the water about one quarter of a mile away.
