The Herald of Christian Science (Spanish Edition) was the first direct contact we had with Science. The first things we read were the testimonies of healing. Each testimony served to confirm our faith. Its reading was a ray of light which was penetrating consciousness, awakening it to the Christ. This is what the Herald meant to us—the forerunner which brings good news.
"Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494).
When I came to Christian Science, a medical diagnosis of mental and physical exhaustion resulting from overwork was weighing on me. Because of this error I was suffering from others no less serious: a seemingly unhappy life, nervous imbalance, and many fears—fear of traveling alone, fear of the sea, of the rain, of eating certain foods, and fear of death. In addition, I was suffering from claustrophobia; I couldn't bear to be enclosed in elevators, theaters, or buses. Other ills included a liver allergy and sinusitis.
