Applying Christian Science to Nursing

Anyone called upon to care for others in time of physical need can apply the universal truths of Christian Science. The God-derived qualities required for Christian Science nursing are within each of us, and when expressed in time of need, they cannot fail to bless.

Caring for others has always been important. Christ Jesus cared for people's needs and gave the parable of the good Samaritan as an example of practical, healing love for our neighbor. The implication was that we should go and do likewise. Paul recognized the importance of his own fostering qualities when he wrote to the church in Thessalonica, "We were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children."I Thess. 2:7;

Florence Nightingale once wrote, "Every woman, or at least almost every woman, . . . has, at one time or another of her life, charge of the personal health of somebody, whether child or invalid,—in other words, every woman is a nurse."Notes on Nursing, Preface;
