"... how to exercise an inspired preventive technique"

Keeping half a thought ahead

From the February 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"You've got to keep half a thought ahead of the blighters." This was my droving mate Boomerang's explanation of his practical application of the adage, "An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure." When I was caught in a bed of quicksand, it was Boomerang's precise application of this preventive technique that saved my life in a flooded outback river many years ago; he had maneuvered store bullocks to the very spot, and their weight had consolidated the ground.

Christian Science shows how to exercise an inspired preventive technique. Its application keeps us under the protective laws of God.

Joseph and Mary, obedient to the operation of God's law, took the infant Jesus down into Egypt and so kept ahead of the malicious intentions of Herod. "For Herod will seek the young child to destroy him." Matt. 2:13; Elisha forestalled the ambush-planning king of Syria. "And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice." II Kings 6:10; Alert to the falsity of error's claim to power, we can keep ahead of any involvement in it and can prove our freedom from being harmed by it.
