Church in Action

True prayer is not asking God for love; it is learning to love, and to include all mankind in one affection. Prayer is the utilization of the love wherewith He loves us. Prayer begets an awakened desire to be and do good. It makes new and scientific discoveries of God, of His goodness and power. It shows us more clearly than we saw before, what we already have and are; and most of all, it shows us what God is. —No and Yes by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 39.

Ads that speak to all of us

From the March 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Satisfaction and peace come with finding God as Life—that's the message behind these branch church advertisements.

The ads convey this message through words that comfort, uplift, challenge, offer a helping hand, and even jest. You may have seen one of them in a local newspaper, shopping guide, special-event program, or community calendar. They are part of a package sent to help English speaking branches let their neighbors know that branch church activities are for the community.

The ads are support for branch churches that may not have the means or know-how to develop the caliber of advertising they want. The variety of copy styles and designs permits each branch to choose ads that suit both branch church and community needs.
