Church services that heal

From the March 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Picture a thirteen-year-old schoolgirl on summer holidays. She is in deep trouble at school, with her future uncertain. She has been brought up as a Christian Scientist but is not at all sure it's not a load of rubbish.

One Sunday, through some divine impulsion, she finds herself at a service in a Christian Science church. As the service unfolds around the central theme of the Lesson-Sermon, the girl feels an understanding of God unfold very peacefully and naturally within her consciousness. She knows Christian Science really is true.

Walking home afterward, she feels a deep conviction that she will be a Christian Science practitioner when she grows up.
