Grief can be healed

From the April 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Grief has been one of the most powerful emotions to plague mankind. Many Greek plays were famous for their depiction of tragic figures bound by sorrow. The word "tragedy" comes from a Greek word meaning "goat song," perhaps from the fact that the earliest players were clothed in goatskins. These heroes and their catastrophes drew great sympathy from audiences.

The loss of a loved one may cause us to feel caught up in the drama of mortal life with its goat song of sadness. Is grief God's will for His beloved children? Certainly not! The Bible gives this comforting vision to those that mourn: "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain."Rev. 21:4

This prophecy is fulfilled in the Science of Christ, which shows the way out of grief. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Spiritually to understand that there is but one creator, God, unfolds all creation, confirms the Scriptures, brings the sweet assurance of no parting, no pain, and of man deathless and perfect and eternal."Science and Health, p. 69 Christ, Truth, providing Life-answers to life-questions down through the ages, has enabled countless individuals to be healed of grief.
