Before I met the man who was to become my husband, I was under the impression that Christian Scientists were "a bunch of kooks who did not believe in doctors." In fact, if I had known my husband was a Christian Scientist when I met him, I would never have dated him in the first place.
By the time we started discussing religion, I felt he was quite normal, and I decided it would not hurt me to date this fine Christian man. It became apparent to me that our views were not as different as I had once imagined, and when he asked me to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I agreed.
My copy of Science and Health became quite battered from being thrown across the room, and my fiance and I had many arguments about what I read. I was perfectly happy with the church I belonged to, but since I had promised my fiance I would read the entire book, read on I did.
