Peter's declaration that "one day is with the Lord as a thousand years"II Pet. 3:8; could as well have been stated "one hour ... as a million years," "one second ... as a trillion years," or even "now ... as eternity." Now is with the Lord as eternity! In each instance aren't we saying that there is no time, since time doesn't exist in now, and that eternity is now?
The ninetieth Psalm torpedoes time even more effectively: "A thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night."Ps. 90:4;
People usually think of eternity as forever, which is a fair enough attempt to put eternity into other words if it can be done without stacking up an infinite number of years, because eternity involves no duration. The eternal now is timeless. All real happenings occur in God's now.
