Teaching in the Christian Science Sunday School can be an adventure in being obedient to Mrs. Eddy's words, "All God's servants are minute men and women."Miscellaneous Writings, p. 158; The teacher may come to class prepared to teach along a certain line. But an inspired "listening ear" also is ready to take advantage of unplanned opportunities to heal and guide young people in unexpected ways. The teacher's spiritual insight enables him to grasp the human need that is behind a question and to fill the need with the strength and tenderness of divine Love.
This kind of teaching comes only from the depth of the teacher's demonstration of divine Love, Principle, in his own life. It carries the ability and capacity to see through the unreal mist of materiality to the perfect man. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Immortal Mind heals what eye hath not seen; but the spiritual capacity to apprehend thought and to heal by the Truth-power, is won only as man is found, not in self-righteousness, but reflecting the divine nature."Science and Health, p. 179;
Such teaching evidences true communication. Humanly, communication appears to be individuals communicating with each other. In reality, it is the intelligence of the one Mind being manifested directly to its ideas. Mrs. Eddy writes, "The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man."ibid., p. 284; So inspired teaching does not originate with the teacher, who must seek to express God's qualities. Both teacher and pupil, in their essential identities, reflect God's wisdom and knowledge. God reveals Himself to mankind! Consequently, the consecrated listening of the teacher is sometimes shown in the silence that waits for Mind to be manifest through right ideas in the pupil. Such an approach is the spirit of Christ in us.
