Yielding to higher law

At a place where two streets come to a point, there's a sign that says "Yield." The car on the "Yield" side came speeding around the slight curve, cutting in ahead of me without braking.

"Well of all things! What do you think yield means?"

The driver sped on, unaware of the question aimed at him. When the question came again, clearly but inaudibly, it was aimed at the questioner: "What do I think 'yield' means?"
