Poems

Symbols

From the March 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The lamb is
humility's symbol.
May I be a lamb—
whose glory is meekness—
yielding all will to
the guidance of God!

The star is a symbol of
light in darkness.
May I be a star—
tiny bright beacon—
reflecting Truth
through error's long night!

If I strive each day
to be
lamblike
starlike
obedient/trusting
with certainty shining,
then
my life
should prove itself
as outward sign of
inward symbol.
