Being at the creation

From the March 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Spiritual creation unfolds progressively through eternity. It is not an event occupying a specific interval of time, nor is it an occurrence confined to a unique point in history. It is the continuing product of divine Mind, God, amplifying His majesty and power.

All ideas are conceived by Him; there is no other source of ideas, no lesser mind. All consciousness is the infinite, divine Mind, which man reflects. The act of conception goes on forever as Mind continually unfolds its ideas, and this unceasing creative action sustains these ideas throughout eternity. The Bible represents God as affirming, "New things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them."Isa. 42:9.

There is never a moment when a specific idea first springs into being; each of Mind's ideas is constantly being conceived and held within Mind's comprehensiveness. Arithmetic furnishes a simple example: There was never an instant when the sum of two and two began to be four; this relationship is produced and maintained as a constant by the principle of mathematics.
