CHURCH IN ACTION ANNUAL MEETING 1981

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MOTHER CHURCH

From the August 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Calling the members of The Mother Church to spiritually based action, The Christian Science Board of Directors told this year's Annual Meeting: "Our vision needs to match Mrs. Eddy's vision in order for us to bring out the results she prayed for, struggled and sacrificed for, in joyously giving her discovery and her Church to the world for its salvation."

This keynote address centered on the need for complete fidelity to the design our Leader gave to her Church. It states in part: "Although Mrs. Eddy was the best healer, teacher, and lecturer on the Science of Christ since Jesus and his early followers, she was God-impelled to leave this work largely to her students and to devote nearly all of her later years to the arduous task of establishing the Church Manual, as well as refining the final statement of her work Science and Health. The result is a gift to us, her followers, of the complete blueprint we need. The devotion to leadership Mrs. Eddy gave in establishing an organization that could survive the ages and bring the revelation to all mankind indicates the required devotion to followership she expects of us."

Held in Boston on Monday, June 8, the 1981 Annual Meeting had the theme "Spiritual leadership and active following." Related inspirational meetings were held Tuesday morning and evening.
